Commutes 12 Miles Round Trip for 0 years and 0 months
Four or Three Days a week, I am a bike commuter Summer Only

I just started getting into bike commuting. I will be commuting in the Cleveland area from home to area around me, within 5-6 miles radius. I think I will be doing this 3-4 times a week. The other time I use the car would be to get (lots of) grocery or to the airport, etc.

I'm 21 years old. My experience with biking began when I was probably 6-7 years old. I bike a little bit as a child on my mother's adult bike. In high school, I biked for two years, commuting every school day for 2.6 miles round trip. I had no knowledge of proper biking then, and did everything wrong, from riding on the sidewalks, not wearing a helmet that fit, to not even understanding the gears and how they work. Now, I'm more knowledgeable in theory, and wish to use those knowledge and get better!

8/23/2017-Today I went to the local bike shop. Picked a donated bike that costs $75. Then I spent roughly 3.5 hours cleaning and fixing it with a volunteer mechanic named J. Rode the bike home. GPS was worked fine until I was 15 mins away from my destination. My phone was at 20% and it was cloudy and getting dark. I called a Lyft instead. Now, earlier today, I was inside another Lyft and talked about biking with the driver. She mentioned how the bus in the area has bike rack and I should take it instead of Lyft for drivers might not accept my bike. So here I am, on the verge of being stranded, calling for a Lyft--and my matched Lyft driver drove a truck! I was happy, thought it could work. But to make sure I called the driver and asked. He was TOTALLY COOL about it. He came, picked me up, helped me put the bike in the car. Then...the moment I went inside the car and shut the door...it started pouring down. Hard. What a day! You might say it all worked out as coincident, it I felt blessed by God.
