The first mile is on neighborhood streets, the next eleven on dedicated asphalt bike/blade/walk paths, and the last one mile on downtown city streets in A.M. rush hour traffic.
The bike commute takes forty minutes each way. In contrast, car during rush hour was 30 minutes. Now, I don't have to "find" time to ride... it is already done! I now have MORE time for other things.
After considerable efforts, employees finally convinced building management and office administrators to remove some of the numerous unused toilets and replace them with showers for noon runners, walkers, exercisers, and one (so far just me) bike commuter.
