My main trip right now is to work, at a bike shop about 1.2 miles from my house. It is really short, but I save around $0.30 a day in gas money by riding my bike. During the school year, I try to ride my bike to school - about 6 miles round trip - but I often carpool, making that not very possible.
I'm a student. I work at a local bike shop. I've got a Trek 1000 (2005?) that I use for most of my riding, but I do have a very old Specialized Hard Rock for bumming around/off road, plus I'm looking to buy a single speed soon to use for my short commute so that I can save my 1000 for the longer, tougher rides.
My commute is so short, not much has ever really happened. I did get buzzed by a hawk once though... and there was that time when a moth decided to take a ride in my helmet....
