Commutes 20 Miles RoundTrip for 0 years and 6 months
Five Days a week, I use my bike to travel to and from work Year Round

Used Google Maps and trial and error to converge on a route that minimizes hills and ingestion of oil-burning car exhaust. Half the route is on a nice tree-lined bike path on the army base. Most of the other half is residential.

This city is not very bike-friendly. But I think I've commuted enough now that motorists are getting used to seeing me out there and gradually coming to the realization that my presence does not noticeably impede them or impose on their equal right to the road. Most negative experiences occur on the most-congested, narrow-lanes, parts of the route. It is "usually" possible to detour thru residential neighborhoods around those problem areas, the small addition in distance well worth it for the reduction in stress and exhaust! I'm fortunate enough to live in a part of the city where a decent route to work exists. For perhaps a majority of the area's residents, there is simply no practical route to work that avoids very heavy traffic congestion.

The more I bike-commute, the more I enjoy it. Just recently determined that I really would like to do this year-round. Not going to let a little cold and darkness deter me. We'll see how it goes...
