I'm pretty lucky, because there is a bike path within 100 feet of my home, which I can take 3/4 of the way to work. Within about 2 miles of the office, I then take some two lane roads through a business park. The speed limit of these roads is about 30mph, so I feel that I can integrate pretty well with the motorized traffic. Most of the drivers along my commute seem to be very tolerant of cyclists, which makes it so much more enjoyable. Yes, there are some drivers who don't seem to be paying enough attention, but I've yet to have someone honk or yell at me.
I started commuting by bike in June 2007, and I wish I would have started doing it a long time ago. Cycling is such a big part of my life right now, so much that I currently own four bikes and I'm running out of space for them in my little apartment. Another hobby of mine is being a private pilot, and I usually like to scout out new bike trails and routes when I go flying.
