My old job had a round trip of about 7 miles that took 15-30 minutes each way depending on traffic and the dooficity factor. My current job is about 5 miles there, but the return trip is around 12 miles due to the dooficity factor (vehicular traffic volume X speed divided by IQ = Doofus). To work is a straight shot from around I-430, down hilly West Markham Street to South Palm by the State Hospital to West 7th, hence to the VA. To home is from West Markham, up Rose to about C Street east to Elm, then north again to Lee. East a block on Lee to Cedar, north to Cedar Hill Rd, then zoom down to Old Cantrell Rd through Riverdale, past Rebsamen Golf Course, Murray Park, the lock & dam, over Jimerson Creek, under I-430 the UP River Mountain Road to Rodney Parham Rd to Green Mountain to Huron and over to Shackleford, Breckenridge and home at last in an hour or 45 minutes depending on wind and traffic lights.
